What Is a Beneficiary?

A beneficiary is a person (or sometimes an organisation) that you choose to receive benefits or payments if something happens to you.

Beneficiaries are most commonly linked to benefits such as:

  • Life insurance
  • Death‑in‑service benefits
  • Pension or retirement benefits (depending on scheme rules)

If a benefit pays out, the payment may be made to the beneficiary or beneficiaries you have nominated.

How Do I View My Beneficiaries?

To view your beneficiaries:

  1. Select the arrow in the top-right corner of the portal
  2. Select My Beneficiaries

You'll be taken to the My Beneficiaries section, where you can view and manage your beneficiaries.

Why Can't I Remove a Beneficiary?

A beneficiary cannot be removed if they are currently assigned to a benefit.

If a beneficiary is linked to an active benefit:

  • The Remove option will not be available
  • You'll see a message explaining that the beneficiary is linked to a benefit

You may need to remove or replace the beneficiary on the associated benefit before they can be deleted from your account.
