What Is the Benefit Cost Summary?

The Benefit Cost Summary appears at the bottom of the My Benefits page.

It helps you understand:

  • The total cost of your benefit selections
  • How those costs are deducted from your pay
  • Any contributions made by your employer
  • The estimated impact on your take-home pay (where available)

Please note: The Benefit Cost Summary may not be available in all portals, as it depends on your employer's configuration.

What Information Will I See?

Depending on how your employer has configured the portal, you'll see one of two summary views:

  • Benefit Totals
  • Estimated Take-Home Pay

What Is the Benefit Totals View?

The Benefit Totals view provides a summary of how much your benefits cost and how those costs are funded.
You may see:

Benefit Cost (Before Tax)

The total cost of benefits deducted before tax is calculated, including benefits such as:

  • Salary Sacrifice or SMART Salary Sacrifice benefits
  • Benefits taken from gross pay
  • Amounts added back into your pay (where applicable)

Benefit Cost (After Tax)

The total cost of benefits deducted from your pay after tax has been applied.

Benefit Cost Paid by Your Employer

The total amount your employer contributes towards your benefits, including any fully funded benefits.

What Is Estimated Take-Home Pay?

Some organisations provide an Estimated Take-Home Pay view.

This shows an estimate of how your salary, tax, National Insurance, and benefit selections may affect your take-home pay.

What Do the Figures Mean?

Gross Salary

Your salary before any deductions.

Benefit Cost (Before Tax)

Benefits deducted before tax, such as Salary Sacrifice benefits.

Estimated Tax and National Insurance

An estimate based on current tax and National Insurance rules and the information held on your record.

Benefit Cost (After Tax)

Benefits deducted after tax has been applied.

Estimated Take-Home Pay

An estimate of what remains after tax, National Insurance, and benefit deductions.

Benefit Cost Paid by Your Employer

The amount your employer contributes towards your benefits.

Important: Estimated Take-Home Pay is an illustration only and should not be treated as a payroll calculation.

Why Do I See Multiple Tabs?

You may notice multiple tabs within the Benefit Cost Summary.
These tabs show how your benefit costs change over time.
For example:

  • One tab may show the cost of your current benefits.
  • Another may show the cost of future benefit selections that have not yet taken effect.

This helps you understand the financial impact of upcoming benefit changes.

Why Can't I See Estimated Take-Home Pay?

The Estimated Take-Home Pay view is only available for employees with a UK tax region of:

  • England
  • Scotland
  • Wales
  • Northern Ireland

If your tax region is recorded as Other, you'll see the Benefit Totals view instead.

How Do I Change How Costs Are Displayed?

You can choose how benefit costs are shown by using the Display View dropdown on the My Benefits page.
Available options may include:

  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Yearly

The portal will display your benefit costs using your selected preference, making it easier to view costs in a format that suits you.
