What is a beneficiary?

A beneficiary is a person you nominate to receive a benefit in the event of your death.

Some benefits, such as life assurance benefits, allow or require you to nominate one or more beneficiaries.

How do I add beneficiaries to a benefit?

If a benefit supports beneficiaries, you'll see a section called Please provide details of your beneficiaries for this benefit when selecting or updating the benefit.

To add beneficiaries:

  • Select the checkbox next to the beneficiary or beneficiaries you want to include.
  • Enter the percentage you would like to allocate to each beneficiary.
  • Ensure the total allocation equals 100%.
  • Continue with your benefit selection.
  • Complete the Review & Confirm process.

You can nominate multiple beneficiaries, provided the total allocation equals 100%.

What if the beneficiary isn't listed?

If the person you want to nominate doesn't appear in the list:

  1. Select Add a Beneficiary.
  2. Enter their details.
  3. Save the information.
  4. Select them for the benefit and allocate a percentage.

The new beneficiary will then be available for future benefit selections.

Do I have to add a beneficiary?

This depends on the benefit.

If beneficiary details are mandatory, you won't be able to continue until:

  • At least one beneficiary has been selected.
  • The allocation percentages total 100%.

The system will display a validation message if this information is missing.

Can I update my beneficiaries later?

Yes.

Beneficiary information can be updated at any time through the My Details section of the employee portal.

Any changes made to an active benefit may be subject to your organisation's benefit rules and approval processes.

Final Step: Review & Confirm

Adding or updating beneficiaries creates a pending change and does not automatically update your benefit selection.

To submit your changes:

  1. Select Review & Confirm.
  2. Review your benefit and beneficiary details.
  3. Accept the Terms & Conditions (if required).
  4. Select Confirm Benefit Selection.
