You can view the remaining balance of your claim allowance for a benefit at any time in the employee portal.
This information is available on the Benefit Details page under the Balance Summary section.

What Is the Balance Summary?

The Balance Summary shows how much of your allowance has been used and how much you have remaining to claim.

Where Can I View My Balance Summary?

You can view the Balance Summary in two places:

Benefit Details tab

The Balance Summary on this tab shows your allowance for the current benefit term or claim period.

Claim History tab

The Claim History tab allows you to select a specific claim period and view the Balance Summary for that period.

What Information Does the Balance Summary Show?

For the selected claim period, the Balance Summary displays the following information:

  • Allowance
The total amount available to claim for that period, based on your benefit selection.
  • Claims approved
The total value of claims that have been approved and will be paid.
  • Claims pending
The total value of claims that are still being processed, including claims with a status of Submitted or Queried.
  • Remaining balance
The amount you still have available to claim.
    This is calculated as:
Allowance – (Claims Approved + Claims Pending)

How Do Claims Affect My Balance?

Whenever you submit a claim, the system calculates a payable claim amount.

This is the amount that is deducted from your available allowance while the claim is pending and after it has been approved.

The payable amount is used to calculate your remaining balance.

Understanding the Payable Claim Amount

The payable amount is determined using several factors.

Claim amount submitted

This is the total value of the expense you are claiming.

Your contribution

Some benefits require you to contribute a portion of the claim cost yourself.

If this applies:

  • The contribution percentage is set by your employer.
  • The contribution amount is displayed when you add, view, or edit a claim.

Example
If you submit a claim for £50 and your contribution is 50%, the payable amount would normally be £25, assuming sufficient balance is available.

Remaining balance

Your remaining allowance is also taken into account when calculating the payable amount.

What Happens if My Remaining Balance Is Lower Than the Claim Amount?

The payable amount cannot exceed your available balance.
Example
If:

  • You submit a £50 claim
  • Your contribution is 50% (resulting in a payable amount of £25)
  • You only have £15 remaining in your allowance

The payable amount will be capped at £15.

Can I Submit Multiple Claims?

Yes. You can continue to submit claims as long as you have a remaining balance available.

Your Balance Summary updates automatically as claims are submitted, processed, approved, and paid, helping you keep track of how much allowance remains available to claim.
