Why am I seeing this message?
Most dependant-related errors occur because a dependant has exceeded the maximum age limit set by the benefit provider.
Each provider has different rules.
For example:
- A child may be covered up to their 24th birthday
- A partner may need to be under a certain age at the start or end of the policy term
Important: Timing of Eligibility Checks
Zest does not automatically flag if a dependant becomes ineligible, eligibility is checked when a window opens and you can make changes, such as during a:
- Annual enrolment window
- Lifestyle event windows
If there’s an issue, you’ll see a message on the benefit page, similar to the following:
“[DEPENDANT NAME] was previously covered by this benefit but is no longer eligible and therefore cannot be covered. Please click on Update Benefit to accept this change of cover.”
What you need to do
You must update your cover:
- Select a new option that reflects eligible dependants only
- Confirm your changes to complete the update
Key Takeaways
- Always check provider age and eligibility rules
- Zest only flags issues when changes can be made
- You are responsible for updating your cover if eligibility changes
- If you are unable to reduce or change your selection due to system restrictions, contact your HR or Rewards team for help.
